Mrs. Deann Lee, Superintendent

Superintendent's Welcome

It is impossible to explain what a privilege it is for me to serve the community of Millsap as Superintendent.  There is not a Board in the state more committed or supportive of doing what is right and best for students and staff; there is not a more selfless staff that meets the needs of every child no matter the personal sacrifice; there is not a more unique partnership with a community which participates in the success of its children, and there is not a district with more kind-hearted students eager to partake of the education offered to them.  Every day I am able to work for the people of Millsap is an honor.  I look forward to many years of making daily strides toward fulfilling MISD’s vision of partnering with parents to make us the premier educational organization because we ARE Millsap!

Millsap ISD takes great pride in Deann Lee as the superintendent of schools.  Monday, August 22, 2016, Dr. Dene Herbel, Board of Trustees’ President, announced the unanimous decision of the board to name Mrs. Lee to the position.  Lee stated, “It is the greatest honor of my career to serve the students, staff, and community of Millsap as Superintendent. We are partners in the education of our children and, together, we are making MISD the premier education organization in the area.”

Previously as Assistant Superintendent of Millsap ISD, Mrs. Lee introduced a mentor program for teachers, fostered the development and use of instructional technology programs, and facilitated the strategic planning initiative at Millsap campuses.  Prior to MISD, Mrs. Lee served in Paris ISD for 23 years where she held several positions including Special Education Supervisor and Federal Programs Director.  She began her teaching career in Arlington ISD in 1988.

Lee attended Southern Nazarene University where she earned her bachelor’s degree.  She received her Master of Arts from Texas Woman’s University.  In addition, Lee holds Texas mid-management and superintendent certifications earned through the Texas A&M and University of Texas systems.  A tireless advocate for education, Mrs. Lee served as the president of the 100,000 member Association of Texas Professional Educators.  She is currently serving on the Equity Center Board.

Lee and her husband, Jimmy, have been married since 1990 and have one son, Travis.  Travis is an electrical engineer in Houston.  Mrs. Lee enjoys singing at her church, Soda Springs Baptist Church and is fond of the outdoors and sports.  Lee is active in numerous organizations and remains politically active.
