Mr. Alex Jett

Alex Jett

This is my first year teaching in public schools since graduating with a degree in music education from Louisiana State University in Spring 2021. During my time at LSU, I had the opportunity to travel the country with the Golden Band From Tigerland taking me all the way to the National Championship in 2019. I was also a regular performer with the concert ensembles at the university. Outside of university, I was awarded the opportunity to perform with Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019 with their record highest brass score and semi-finals placement in corps history. Upon finish my season performing with them, I was given the opportunity to join the visual staff led under Frank Solis for the 2020 season and remain teaching with them over the summers.

Outside of schooling, I am an avid runner having qulified for the Boston Marathon in my debut marathon in 2021. I am also an active Alumnus of Kappa Kappa Psi and Alpha Tau Omega. I am a native of Dallas and and graduate of Hillcrest High School.

During my time here at MillsapISD, I have helped lead the marching band to new heights at the UIL Area Marching Competition incoprorating the corps style visual program taught at Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps. The unique show design in Bach from the Grave helped lead the performers to a first in class placement at the Godley Marching Contest and superior ratings at UIL Region Marching Contest. I am also the current Assistant Cross Country Coach assisting in training runners to qualify as high as the Regional Cross Country Championship in 2021. As a music teacher, I am committed to creating an environment performers can take pride in, and creating a habit of excellence in everything we do.
